Enjoy weekly lessons all month long
No need to drive to lessons, our teachers come to you! This means you can enjoy lessons in the comfort of your home and skip the commute!
Our teachers are performing musicians with either a degree in music, or actively working towards one.
At Lakeside Music Academy, we believe that the most important thing we can foster in a student is a lifelong love of music.

Book a lessonIt depends on the student and the instrument. A great age to start piano lessons is 5 years old. Often violin students start even younger than 5 years old. For most wind and brass instruments students should be at least 9 or 10 years old. These instruments can be larger, heavier and require a larger lung capacity to play. If your child is interested in wind or brass instruments they can always start on piano first while they continue to grow. This way they will have an in-depth knowledge of music before they even start learning to play a wind instrument. If you have a more specific question feel free to reach out to us on our contact page. We’d love to help figure out the best fit for your child.
To learn how to properly play the piano your keyboard must have standard size keys and the keys must be weighted. Keyboards are perfect if your child is unsure if they want to learn piano. It is ok to do a few lessons on a less than optimal instrument.
We teach every age. We have taught students ages 4 to 85. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any more specific age related questions.
Yes! We offer lessons for every level of student. We will help you find the perfect teacher for your level, all of our teachers have different specialties.

No. At Lakeside Music Academy the only time you pay in advance is for the intro lesson. If you decide to continue, you will be billed at the end of each month for all the lessons you’ve already had. This includes any lessons that you cancel with less than 24 hour notice, per our policies. Since we are so flexible we do ask that you give us at least a month’s notice if you’re going to stop taking lessons. This gives us time to fill up the gaps in your teachers schedule. We also ask that you do not cancel more than 3 times per semester. Feel free to contact us at anytime if you have any specific questions.
We do understand that sometimes the 24 hour cancellation can be difficult to adhere to, but unfortunately we have to stick to it. If you have to cancel last-minute, that’s a space in your teacher’s calendar that they won’t be able to fill, and since they’re commuting to homes, it usually means they have to sit around in between lessons. Because of this, we pay the teachers for lessons that are cancelled with less than 24 hour notice to respect their time.
All lessons take place in the home of the student. We are also currently offering virtual lessons you prefer.
Currently, we have students in the following towns: Plymouth, Eden Prairie, Edina, Wayzata and Minnetonka. Don’t worry if you don’t see you town, reach out anyway - we probably have a teacher that can come to your home.
We do not offer instrument rentals.
