Ray Wang is a violinist and violist from China. He just finished the Master of Music Degree in New England Conservatory in Boston and currently is a Doctor of Music Art Degree candidate studying Viola Performance in the studio of Korey Konkol. Ray has extensive orchestral and chamber experience in the United States and in China,serving as Principal Violist of the NEC Philharmonia ,Bravo Music Festival Orchestra, China Philharmonic Orchestra, the China Youth Symphony, and as Assistant Principal of the National Youth Orchestra 2017 American Tour.He performed at Carnegie Hall as associate principal Violist of the National Youth orchestra under the baton of Ludovic Morlot with Yujia Wang. Most recently, he also performed with Mankato Symphony orchestra as Associate Principal violist and South Dakota Symphony orchestra.He received Gold Medal in the 2017 Hummingbird Music Award and he also won the Schubert Club String Competition in St Paul. Ray has performed in masterclasses with Kim Kashkashian, Midori Gotō, Lynn Harrell, Diyang Mei, Nicholas Cords, Kristopher Tong. As a conductor, Ray served as the Music Director of the Hantong International Music Festival Orchestra. He enjoys hiking, photography, and exploring state park in his free time.
